Putting the Pieces Together (Virtual)

This full-day (5.5 hours) training with Dr. Greg Manning, will assist social workers, mental health professionals, and residential/foster care/relative care providers in putting the pieces together more efficiently and effectively to serve the children and families.
During the training, we will address the definition, impact, and intervention strategies connected with the three key concepts of Permanency and Loss, Trauma, and Mental Health Treatment, all through a culturally informed lens. Key points of intersection among these three concepts will be identified to help participants understand how their roles are critical to the increased safety, cultural connectedness, and well-being of the children and families we serve.
To engage you, the adult learner, and maximize your transfer of learning, we will utilize interactive small and large-group discussions, short videos, small group exercises, and brief didactic lectures.
***FREE for all parents in any location across the United States, and all Alabama DHR staff. All other professionals seeking the 5.5 NBCC approved credit hours will be charged $55.00 for CEU certification.
Training Objectives:
Through this convenient online training, participants will:
1) Identify culturally appropriate and trauma-informed mental health diagnoses for our clients.
2) Identify culturally appropriate and trauma-informed psychiatric and therapy options for our clients.
3) Identify collaborative intervention opportunities to address the needs of both our clients and our staff/providers/caregivers.
About the Trainer:
Dr. Manning has extensive experience working in the public and private sector in both mental health and child welfare agencies. He is a professional speaker, trainer, and consultant for the National Center on Adoption and Permanency (NCAP). Dr. Manning provides training, consulting and keynote speaking services to professionals of multiple specialties and lay persons on a wide range of topics related to child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice. He has presented at national, state, and local mental health, child welfare, and education conferences. Dr. Manning holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, is a published author, and is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. In addition, Dr. Manning is an Adjunct Faculty in the UMass Global – Graduate Department of Psychology.
