July 23 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Stop, Drop & Connect, a New Way to Handle Big Behaviors, with Barb Clark. In-Person, Day long training in Birmingham, AL. Earn 5.5 CEU Credits

Join Children’s Aid Society of Alabama‘s Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections (APAC) training team at the Vestavia Civic Center for a powerful full-day training designed for foster parents, adoptive parents, counselors, social workers, educators, and child welfare professionals seeking practical, trauma-informed strategies to better support children and teens impacted by trauma, loss, and neurodevelopmental differences.

Traditional discipline methods often fail when behaviors are rooted in trauma and brain-based challenges. In this engaging and insightful training, nationally recognized speaker Barb Clark will help participants move beyond power struggles and toward connection-centered responses that build trust, emotional safety, and healing.

Through real-world examples and practical tools, attendees will learn how to better understand and respond to challenging behaviors such as raging, lying, stealing, and emotional dysregulation using compassionate, brain-based approaches.

Participants will learn how to:
• Understand how trauma, loss, and neurodiversity impact behavior and emotional regulation
• Reframe challenging behaviors through a trauma-informed lens
• Respond compassionately to confabulation and perceived dishonesty
• Use connected, relationship-based strategies that reduce anxiety and strengthen trust

This training is worth 5.5 CEU credits and offers valuable insight for anyone supporting children and teens through foster care, adoption, or complex behavioral challenges.

***Always FREE for parents and Alabama DHR staff. Other professionals will be charged $55.00 for this NBCC approved certification.
