Description

Summary: Carries out recruitment of prospective adoptive families interested in adopting children waiting in foster care without an identified adoptive resource. This position is responsible for responding to and supporting potential foster/adoptive families inquiring through the DHR website, DHR Hotline, AdoptUsKids, APAC phone/email, AIV registrations through the CAS website, Heart Gallery of Alabama, and any other sources of referral. The adoptive family recruiter will complete the screening and assessment of potential adoptive families and/or make referrals as needed. Co-leads TIPS classes in region. Serves as an active member and in collaboration with Pre-Adoption Services team.  

Minimum Education: Significant life experience as a Foster or Adoptive Parent or Adult Adoptee. Will consider Bachelor’s Degree in lieu of life experience.

Minimum Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years working with children/families involved with child welfare system if no significant life experience with foster or adoption.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Alabama driver license and auto insurance minimum liability 100/300.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Computer proficient, excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work independently but collaboratively to achieve program outcomes. Must demonstrate cultural awareness and the ability to work with clients from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. Understanding of trauma informed care.
