Summary: This position is responsible for providing home management, job and life skills education to program participants.
Minimum Education: High school diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: 2 years in child, youth, and family services.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Professional licensure if applicable to degree. Valid Alabama driver license and auto insurance minimum liability 100/300.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond calmly and non-judgmentally to others, including persons in crisis. Ability to establish good rapport with pregnant and/or parenting teens or/ young adults and to teach, coach, and model positive parenting and basic independent living skills necessary for successful transition into independence. Ability to work with a team while evidencing ability to think critically. Ability to plan and work independently as directed by the Program Director. Ability to provide services in a culturally sensitive manner. Understanding of trauma responsive care and positive youth development.
Required Internal Certification/Trainings: Bi-annual TB skin test/medical report
List any physical requirements: Travel, some overnight. Ability to work flexible hours; provide 24/7 on call response. Able to lift/push up to 30 lbs. Able to bend and stand without support. Able to walk up/down stairs without support.
Summary: This position provides guidance for IL youth and support to the ILSS program at CAS.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree desired.
Licensure: Valid Alabama driver license and auto insurance minimum liability 100/300.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The Youth Consultant will be a person with lived experience in the foster care system in Alabama. Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; Ability to relate to and work well with others; Excellent time-management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Demonstrate cultural proficiency and to learn and work within an agency culture of trauma responsive care.
Certification: Bi-annual TB skin test/medical report.
Other Requirements: Frequent travel statewide. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Summary: The PI Youth Specialist(s) will provide program guidance and support to current and potential PI participants, and
expert knowledge to other program staff, including the Street Outreach team. This position will work approximately 30 hours per
month.
Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum Work Experience: none; however, the Youth Specialist(s) must be either in school or employed at least part-time
external to Children’s Aid Society.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Alabama driver license desired. If a driver, must have auto insurance minimum liability 100/300.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The PI Youth Specialist is required to have lived experience with homelessness
(meaning they have personally experienced life as a homeless person). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively
communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to respond calmly and non-judgmentally to others, including persons in crisis. Ability
to establish good rapport with homeless pregnant and/or parenting teens and to teach, coach, and model parenting and basic
independent living skills necessary for successful transition into adulthood. Ability to work with a team. Ability to provide services
in a culturally sensitive manner. Understanding of trauma informed care and positive youth development.
Required Internal Certification/Trainings: Bi-annual TB skin test/medical report; Background check required prior to
employment.
