Unless designated for a specific purpose by the donor and approved by Children’s Aid Society (CAS) or Children’s Aid Foundation (CAF), donations are made with the understanding that CAS and/or CAF have complete control and administration over the use of the donated funds. Gifts to CAS and/or CAF help support the services and operations of CAS.

Gifts of Appreciated Stock
You can donate appreciated stock to CAS. If you’ve held that stock for more than one year, you may be able to take a charitable tax deduction for the current market value of the stock, and neither you nor CAS has to pay capital gains tax when the stock is sold.

Future Gifts
Legacy gifts are committed now and spendable in the future. Most commonly, they are gifts through wills, trusts, or life insurance policies, charitable rollovers of IRAs or retirement plans, or transfers of appreciated stock. Many of these gifts can be made with simple beneficiary changes, and others may require the assistance of financial or legal counsel.
