“The system is broken,” “The children are broken,” if you work in any capacity serving children…you’ve heard these statements all too often. You’re working hard to put the pieces together, and you are not alone in this work. Children’s Aid Society of Alabama’s APAC program is hosting a transformational training this November, “Putting the Pieces Together” for social workers, mental health professionals, and other care providers. APAC’s Trained Therapist Network (TTN) events are immersive full-day sessions. In this upcoming TTN, we will explore such key areas as: Permanency and Loss, Trauma, and Mental Health Treatment, using a culturally informed approach. Participants will learn how to apply these concepts to better serve children and families in Alabama, and attendees will earn 5.5 NBCC approved Continuing Education Units.
Why This Training Matters
Understanding how to address permanency, trauma, and mental health is critical in child welfare. This need for understanding is why APAC continues to work diligently to bring in experts from across the country and right here in Alabama, to build our confidence and skills in meeting the varied needs of the children and families we serve. Each child’s journey is unique, and their experiences deeply impact their well-being. This training with Dr. Manning helps professionals see how these factors intersect and influence one another. Putting the pieces together brings clarity to the work you do each day by focusing on culturally appropriate and trauma-informed practices. Together, we’ll gain the tools needed to support children and families more effectively.
Interactive and Engaging Learning
This is not going to be a boring lecture. We want you to ask questions and get involved. The training includes group discussions, videos, and exercises designed to engage you actively. You’ll have the chance to collaborate with others, share insights, and practice your new skills. This approach ensures that what you learn can be immediately applied in your daily work.
